Once upon a time I played around quite a bit with creating new levels for the game DooM, (and also its cousine Heretic, which I liked better). I also developed some software to help in the production of these levels. This was way back in the beginning of 1997, when I did not have internet access yet. Now several years later, when I examined the old 486, I found the files, and decided that I had better publish them. A bit too late perhaps – I don't know if anyone is still playing DooM – but perhaps it will be of interest to someone.
An editor for the internal graphic formats used in DooM and Heretic, with ability to import BMPs and convert between different palettes (e.g. between Heretic and Doom.) It is written in Visual Basic, and the drawing of the pictures are painfully slow, but it does the job.
Download dgraphed.zip. The distribution also includes several examples of custom made DooM graphics. Don't miss them!
A very simple program. The most noteworthy with it is that it performs a self-check, to confirm that it and the readme haven't been altered in some way – that's why it is so slow in the start up.
Download dpwadlc.zip. You will need vbrun300.dll and cmdialog.vbx to run. (These are included in DGraphEd.)

This was the closest I ever came in making a complete level. Yes, you heard me: it is only one level, and it is not complete, so you can't end it. It was a quite an ambitious project though, since I even designed my own opening screen. The level itself is mainly a puzzle and a large labyrint, with some hidden secrets – there may be more hidden than what is immediatly appearant! Also note the care taken in designing how the light falls from lamps, with mathematical precision. Some of the graphics are stolen from Heretic (converted with DGraphEd).
Download! Just unzip it in your DooM-folder, and start with the command "doom -file fool.wad". Note: Commercial version of DooM is needed.

An architectual experiment, with two houses on each side of a river. With some more or less clever techniques involving fake doors I have tried to make the impression of different levels inside the houses, despite of DooM's and Heretic's inability to work with more than one levels. For Heretic.
Download, and start with the command "heretic -file houses.wad". Commercial version of Heretic is needed.

Another house. This time I have tried to recreate my home in the world of DooM. Let's say that the real thing is far more cosy... And no, we do not have a large monster outside our front door. (Although I do have a recurring dream, where a wild animal is sneaking around outside our house, but that's another story.)
Download, and run in DooM as usual.
